Rodarte for Opening Ceremony

If you missed out on Rodarte’s coveted collaboration with Target last year, now’s your chance to avenge the loss of that oft-photographed leopard print dress. Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the sisters behind the brand, have launched Rodarte for Opening Ceremony, a capsule collection of womenswear, menswear and accessories.Although the duo previously designed sweaters and t-shirts for the retailer’s Fashion’s Night Out events, this marks the first full partnership between the two masters of youthful cool. Shoppers can pick up everything from irresistably buttery leather t-shirts and suede boots to wide-pleat skirts and plenty of fantastical knits.
In a recent interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Laura explained, “We were kind of thinking about dusty landscapes — it could be here in California, it could be in any of those places that you imagine on a road trip.” Prices range from $110 for tattoo tights to $2,730 for a leather dress blazer. Although this might not seem inexpensive, it’s a steal compared to Rodarte’s namesake line, which only goes up from there. And thanks to more wearable cuts and fabrics, alongside wider accessiblity (the clothes are sold online, in Opening Ceremony stores and at Barneys) Rodarte has the potential to go from the little label that could, to the next great American fashion house.
