Hi Dolls --

Contrary to possible rumors you may have seen here and elsewhere, there has been no breach of information on Stardoll. Rather, there have been some pranks by trolls who have been misbehaving and sending out scary messages in an attempt to spread fear and panic.

On Stardoll, this has happened recently in a few different ways:

- In the form of sending an overwhelming amount of traffic to Stardoll so others can’t login

- In the form of sharing phishing links
(these are links to websites designed to make you think you are on Stardoll or make you think that you will get free membership or Stardollars by logging in)

- In the form of inappropriate images posted in blogs

- In the form of messages being sent out saying the site has been compromised
(this is patently untrue and these messages are just nonsense)

You don’t have to worry; no accounts or any account data have been accessed. In the case of an actual data breach, we would let everyone know in a timely manner as is our legal obligation, just like any other website that stores any sort of personal data. 

However, the internet is full of people who enjoy causing panic and trouble. Every website has them, and with the world dealing with the pandemic and a renewed interest in nostalgic games like Stardoll, sites like ours are getting more attention from these trolls it seems. When you are on the internet, it is always wise to be very cautious, and Stardoll is no different! 

The best things you can do to protect yourself: 

- Don’t ever put your password into a website that is not Stardoll. The login page on Stardoll is secure, so you will see a locked lock in the address bar! Some phishing sites try to disguise themselves to look JUST LIKE Stardoll, so check that you are at the proper URL (Stardoll.com). And use your critical thinking skills when you see sites offering free Stardollars or Superstar membership -- these are NEVER real.

- Don’t give your password to anyone for any reason, not even Stardoll Staff! 

- Don’t cause more fear and panic. If you have questions, send them in to our Customer Support Staff. If you see something bad, report it right away using the reporting tool. This helps us stop the bad actors quickly and reduce the problems.

- If you have a child using Stardoll and you are worried, we recommend using the KidSafe function, which can be found in Settings. This will allow them to play without viewing any user-made content. They will be able to shop, dress-up, and use all of the features without having to see any potentially inappropriate images or text from other members. If you need help setting up KidSafe on an account, please reach out to our Customer Support Staff for assistance. 

What Stardoll is doing to protect you: 

- Our Security Team and Operations Staff are working together to stop and block these trolls and to remove any bad content added to the site as quickly as possible. 

- We are gathering the information we’ve accumulated to submit to proper authorities.

- Our Reports Team is prioritizing and reviewing incoming reports more often and working together with our Security Team in order to handle these situations faster and more effectively.
