Little Black Perfection

hace 90 meses

"One is never overdressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress" - Karl Lagerfeld

The Little Black Dress (LBD) is an, obviously, black cocktail or evening dress. It's usually a simple design or cut quite short. Now you and I are on the same page with the LBD, it is time to delve into where the classic originated.

The LBD is thought to have emerged in the 1920's by designers such as Jean Patou and Coco Chanel. At the time, the LBD was thought to serve the purpose of being affordable, neutral and versatile. Then, it did! The LBD was so commonplace that it became a fashion "rule" to own one, and it still is today.

It was in the 1960's that the revolutionary idea forced its way into fashion. The Bod Mod era adopted the idea, and influencers like Audrey Hepburn let it bloom. Her LBD designed by Hubert de Givenchy is thought to be one of the most iconic pieces of the 21st century!

Has the LBD lasted 100 years in your mind?

The LBD is certainly not leaving my closet anytime soon.
