Genius Jeans
Jeans are a staple piece for any wardrobe. They are classic and versatile, and work with any style. This year, DIY denim has been a huge trend, and continues to grow. For this blog post, I have styled some outfits to help achieve the look.
Starting off with distressed denim, which is always a reoccurring trend - from frayed hems and unstitched pockets at Vetements, to slashes and rips covered in pearls at Jonathan Simkhai. As the jeans are still quite simple, I chose to pair them with a striped fur coat, and ornate-style sweater, although they can be styled with anything.
Moving on to the next style, which is of course embroidery, patches and paint. This trend was huge this year (embroidery at Gucci, paint by Warren Lotas), and definitely one of my favourites, as it's super easy to create something personal and unique to you. With the floral jeans, I paired them with a Balenciaga inspired puffer jacket, which I think works well in contrast to the feminine flowers and classic shirt. The second look was inspired by a 1991 image of Cher, who wore a slouchy leather jacket and boots with a similar pair of jeans.
My last outfits are very glam! The first look features metallic jeans, which I dressed down with the denim jacket and grey t-shirt. With the second look, I couldn't resist these sequin jeans, inspired by Ashish! You could also take a simple pair of ripped jeans and add sequin fabric underneath, which is a little subtler. I decided to keep the look ultra-glam with heels and a fur coat.
