Take Only Photos, Leave Only Footprints

hace 111 meses

If the recent Endangered Species campaign has inspired you to explore nature around where you live, there are a few rules to follow! Find out if there are any nature walks near you, and ask an adult to take you there. It is important to leave nature exactly as you found it, so follow these easy rules!

Take Only Pictures
This phrase means that you shouldn't take anything from nature, as it could upset the fragile ecosystem. While you may think that taking a pretty shell from the beach has no environmental impact, imagine if every visitor took one - there would be no beach left! Enjoy what you see, and take only pictures - or sketch what you see if that's what you like to do!

Leave Only Footprints
This phrase means that you shouldn't leave anything in nature - trash and other refuse not only ruins the beauty for others, it also harms the environment, hurting innocent animals and polluting the water with dangerous chemicals. Anything you bring with you into nature should return home with you in a trash bag - leave only footprints, and pick up any trash with an adult's supervision if you want to help out!

Remember, wild animals are easily scared and can be dangerous, so keep well away! You should never get as close as my doll is in the picture above- cameras have a zoom function, so you don't have to get close. Remember to turn the flash off as well, and research the walk well with a park ranger beforehand to be safe!

Have you been on a nature walk before?
