Resort 2012 Beauty Trend: Summer Waves

It seems this year’s resort looks are just what we’re wanting for the sunniest season of the year—hair wise. Casual, tousled waves made an appearance at a staggering number of shows this season. Frankly, we think it’s fantastic that such a languid hair style has been the style of choice. It’s summer, and we don’t want to put any more work into our hair than necessary.

Rebecca Minkoff resort 2012, Imaxtree

Rebecca Minkoff has it down pat. These tresses don’t even appear to have had a curler taken to them. Fresh out of the shower, finger curl your hair and let it dry.

Jill Stuart resort 2012, Imaxtree

This style is effortless, need we say more? Pop out of bed, run a comb through you hair, and you have it. The simple hairstyle is just a smidge more sophisticated because of the bold lips and clean eye makeup.

Organic by John Patrick resort 2012, Imaxtree

Emphasized with an uncomplicated ensemble, this is unembellished style at its finest. Here the model sports the lengthy waves, but pins back strands at the crown of her head for a ladylike touch.

Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony resort 2012, Imaxtree

Actress and former model Chloë Sevigny tries her hand at fashion designing with her resort 2012 collection for Opening Ceremony. She, too, opts for flowy hair that screams casual.

Stella McCartney resort 2012, Imaxtree

Stella McCartney might just have the all-around finest natural look. The lips remain completely untouched with only a hint of liner on the top lids. McCartney also vies for a cropped version of the unmanaged tuft.

Alright, time to mimic the style. We’ve wrangled up a couple ways you can achieve this look and a few styling products to help.

Tips: Dampen your hair before bed (not sopping wet) and put your hair in twists. Pin them all across your head and in the morning, bam! Instant style. A different take on tip one, swipe your hair up into two to four buns and let it down after a night of rest. You can braid your hair for more defined waves, and this is something you can do with dry hair. But make sure the braids are loose to avoid the crimped look.

Products: If you want a little extra help in attaining disheveled hair, use these style perfecting sprays.
