Boring Grown-Up Stuff: Saving Money

One sad truth of being a grown-up is that your parents don't pay for everything anymore. Sure, you might've had to pay for your nights out with friends or your cell phone bill, but groceries, rent, and bills? That was completely off your radar! So, especially if you're a broke student, how are you supposed to balance all these costs? Well, I'm no expert, but here are a few little ways to save money every day.

Cook, don't order in. Buying a ton of groceries to cook with can seem like a lot more money (and effort!) than just ordering takeout. Spending a bit of money for a greasy meal isn't exactly your best option, though. Cooking food yourself means you get leftovers for days to come, the satisfying experience of making your own food, and, often, a much healthier diet! Look up some recipes online, and if you don't have time to cook every night, do a bunch of cooking on the weekend and freeze your meals for later in the week!

Don't be afraid to have multiple bank accounts. Different banks have different advantages. Lots of online banks have higher interest rates, but you pay a fee every time you use your debit card. Larger banks have lower interest rates, but cost you less overall. Talk to someone in the know and figure out how to maximize the money you make with your banking.

Cut some little things. 3 Starbucks drinks a day? How much does that cost you? Too much. Look at small unnecessary things you're wasting money on, and either cut down on them or find cheaper alternatives.

How do you save money?

Til next time!
