Give It Time

While solving some problems requires action, some things need time to get better. Here are a few examples, and some tips on playing the waiting game!

What Needs Time?
While many things need to be left alone in order to sort things out, here are some things that need this treatment more often:
- Fights with a friend or partner (to let people cool off)
- Breakups (to let communication be easy again)
While these things can sometimes be solved with good communication, having to leave them alone for a while is common. Here's how to deal with that!

Relax
The first step is to make sure you are cool, calm, and collected. This will help you be able to solve problems and communicate better once you're talking again! Do whatever helps you relax- it could be reading, a nice bath, talking with a different friend, or even just having a good sleep. Try to be in the moment so you can really chill out!

Get Your Own Thoughts Sorted
Once you're more relaxed, it's time to think about the situation. Try to think about it from the other person's point of view- how might they feel about it? What might they want as an outcome from the discussion? Then, you can think about what you would want as an outcome. Make pro and con lists if you need to! Just make sure you understand where you're coming from and where you're going to for when you revisit the conversation.

How do you cope with giving a problem time?
