I am biromantic - a person, who can be romantically attracted to two sexes or genders. Some people could say, “it’s just a phase,” “it is unnatural,” “you are too young to be sure in it,”  etc., and that, frankly, can be offensive. All these make it hard for me to accept who I am. I feel guilty about it because of religious beliefs, I feel ashamed because of homophobia, I feel deprived because of rights that I can't have.

From my own experience, being not in a straight kind of relationship is much harder. We can't express our feelings anywhere, we can’t kiss or hug in public. We need to hide our relations all the time because we can tell about “us” only a few people we really trust.

What is more, there is a tough pressure on us in countries like mine. For example, about a week ago, there was a huge event against LGBTQ+ in my town. It is painful to know that there are loads of homophobes around you, including your classmates and maybe even your relatives. It hurts that someone can hate you so much, just because you are in love with a person of the same gender.

That’s why representation matters, that’s why we need to fight for our rights, that’s why we should reconvene and make this world a better place for all people, including LGBTQ+ to live.
