Success & Failure

vor 62 Monaten

 Welcome back.

To be completely honest with you all, there is no ‘white and black’ definition as to what counts as a failure, and what counts as a success. This topic is full of grey areas -- and we may never be able to distinguish the two apart completely. I believe that there are some failures behind every success, and successful elements to every failure.

The ‘self-love activists’ that social media sites are nowadays filled with will always be eager to sell you a bath bomb or a box of chocolates, but will never really succeed when it comes to clearing all the doubts in your mind and reassuring yourself -- because the only person who can do that is you.

It’s important to remember that we learn every time we fail. With every situation comes a mistake that we will always be wary of making again, and an action you are bound to never repeat. I believe that we learn more through failures than we could have learned through any other method.

With that said, we should be allowed to create our own definitions as to what failure and success are. This week, I ‘failed’ a test. I was asked to re-take it the following day, and I ‘failed’ again. Despite the fact that my score wasn’t considered enough to be a ‘pass’ by my school, my result was a success to me, and I’m extremely proud of it! Why? Because I know that the night after I failed the first time, I studied so hard and I know I couldn’t have done better if I tried.

The bottom line is that there will always be some sort of occurence or object claiming to know your worth, and how deserving you are, whether it’s a grade on a piece of paper, or a group of girls gossiping about the choices you make.

I believe we can define our own success as well as create them, and will always be in (at least partial)  control of the way we feel about ourselves. So, let’s talk in the comments section: how do you define failure and how do you define success? What was your biggest success, and what have you learned from your biggest failure?

Until next time,
