The ’70s are in full swing for fall 2011 looks. From Burberry to Prada, mod was all the rage on the runways. Check out how the mod-tastic era made a major comeback this season, and how we found inspiration from non-runway related ideas.

Here’s what comes to our own ’70s mood board when we think of the ’70s (not that we actually experienced them for ourselves of course), but these historical (and not-so-historical) bits of fashion memoirs seem to awaken the groovy era back to life. Twiggy was the definition of British mod. We love her iconic pixie cut and voluminous lashes.

Who better to represent the mod era better than Edie Sedgwick and Andy Warhol, who together helped shape the iconic style more than anyone.

And in case you’re unfamiliar with the original Edie Sedgwick, maybe you know of Sienna Miller’s rendition of Edie in Factory Girl.

Although we hate to admit it, the Austin Powers series seems to sum up the “far-out” style (as Austin would say) of the ’70s pretty well—for those of whose who weren’t around to live it in person that is.

How could you complete the mod look without some serious attention to your eyes, meaning thick lashes and a great cat eye. Get the winged look with Stila’s liquid eyeliner.

For dramatic lashes, we love Maybelline’s Falsies Mascara—or of course, there’s always the fake lashes route which we totally approve of as well.

Adele is pretty much our modern day mod girl. She’s got the look and vibe, with a soulful voice to match.
