On Your Bike!

Cycle shorts have always been a staple street-style piece; however, they were also a recurring theme on the Spring/Summer 2019 runways. Jacquemus, Fendi, Mugler and Miu Miu all dressed-up the shorts, whereas brands such as Off-White and Area opted for a sportier look. For this blog post, I have styled a few ways to wear the trend!

For my first outfits, I went for a sporty and dressed-down way to style the cycle shorts. For my first outfit, I chose a pair of cycle shorts with a branded elastic waist band. I paired them with a sporty Nicopanda crop-top, Fenty x Puma heeled sneakers and a black cap. I then added a bright pink Off-White coat as my statement piece, along with a matching pink waist-bag. With my next outfit, I chose a pair of off-white shorts and a matching sporty tank top. I added a slouchy puffer jacket, although you could choose another bright color like my first outfit. Continuing with the monochrome outfit, I added some platform sneakers, branded socks and a vinyl backpack.

For my final outfits, I wanted to show ways to dress-up the cycle shorts. This has definitely become my favorite way to style them! For my first outfit, I chose this oversized charcoal blazer, worn over a black turtleneck and shorts. Bold and boxy blazers are another SS19 trend, as seen on the Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Margiela and Louis Vuitton runways. To stick to a streetstyle theme, I added a pair of pointy heels, a cross-body bag and sporty Prada shades. With my final outfit, I went for a similar look, instead choosing this micro-dot blazer, which is a perfect match with the heels! I styled them with a white t-shirt and matching shorts, and a mini black bag. You could swap the t-shirt for a crisp white shirt.
