Before I log in, I clear my cookies, delete my history and empty the cache. The cache is a folder on your hard drive that collects images you automatically download when you visit a site. It is supposed to speed up your experience, but it does the opposite when it gets full.

How you connect to the internet also determines speed. Wireless is not as fast as being plugged in (hardwired) to your modem. A broadband connection is best. If you are using wireless, speed and strength of signal are better the closer you are to the router. You can set up a “repeater” to improve the signal if you want to connect in a specific area of your home that is not close to the router.
