Maria Antonia was born at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria. She married Louis-Auguste, King Louis XVI of France, in April 1770 and is best known by her French name Marie Antoinette. At the height of the French Revolution the royal family was imprisoned. Nine months after her husband's execution, Marie Antoinette was herself tried, convicted of treason, and executed by guillotine.
