3 Ways To Start Loving Your Body Today

It can be difficult to love your body daily, and we all have days where we aren't feeling our best. Here are three things to try to begin your love and acceptance of your own body.

NOTE: If you have an eating disorder or similar illness such as BDD, check with your therapist before trying these- they may help you, but it's always good to check you're in the right place to benefit from them first.



1. Have a cleansing bath
I find a calming bath can help increase my body positivity by allowing me to really take care of my body. If you can, use some bath products you really love, like bath bombs, bubble bath, or even just a great soap. After soaking for a bit, focus on cleaning the different parts of your body well - this can help bring you closer to your body and remind you that it is yours, and yours alone.


2. Have a healthy meal
Remember, "health" doesn't mean "be on a diet". A healthy meal should satisfy you, and nourish your body! Take a break from harmful fad diets to really help you accept your body. Include good amounts of carbohydrates, protein, and some healthy fat - and don't forget the veggies! You could try making a pasta dish with a tomato based sauce filled with beans and vegetables (with an adult's help) - whatever makes you feel good. And remember, it's okay to have a treat every now and then, so you don't have to skip dessert!


3. Start a list
Start a list of things you appreciate about your body that aren't about looks. What does your body do for you? You might appreciate your body because it lets you play your favourite sport, or because it helps you keep warm when it's cold out. See how many things you can think of!
