What to do When You Are Feeling Down
Life is a funny thing. One day you may sit with your friend in a cafe, chat, laugh, etc. Other days, you may be laying down in your bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, thinking of a purpose of life. Bad thoughts attract other bad thoughts, bad memories never arrive alone. You just sit there, on the verge of tears, unable to help yourself. Your parents are at work, your sibling is not around, your friends are busy. You are all alone.
But you can try helping yourself by doing some things to improve your mood, such as:
- Listen to loud music.
Find songs you love, preferably a positive ones, make a playlist, and turn up the speakers really loud. And dance.
- Play with your pet(s).
I've read that sometimes our pets may detect when we are sad. So is you have a cat or dog, try playing with them. They may try comforting you by snuggling with you, playing with you, or just softly purring on your lap.
- Read.
It is proven that reading helps fight bad feelings as we start living other lives through our book characters.
- Write.
One of the reasons I love writing so much. It helps taking mind off of bad thoughts and expressing your feelings, whether you are writing in a diary, writing articles, etc.
- Go out on the fresh air.
Take a walk. Try to settle your thoughts. Sometimes you do need some time alone.
One thing is sure - it will pass. In an hour, or a day, you will feel better. It may come by using some of the advice above, or by itself. So don't worry.
