It all sounds way, way too good to be true. Well, that’s probably because it is (sadly). Designer rip-offs, knock-offs, fakes—whatever you want to call them—have become all too common. And although we love a good deal, we simply can’t get behind shelling out our cash to a fashion copycat who wants to make bank on somebody else’s creativity. eBay has teamed up with the CFDA to send out a similar message: You Can’t Fake Fashion. Starting Monday, the online auction megasite will be selling totes bearing the tagline for $35, along with limited-edition, specially customized bags from 50 CFDA designers for $135. ELLE.com got an exclusive sneak-peek at the Diane Von Furstenburg creation above, and we can’t wait to see what the other designers—including The Row, Badgley Mischka, Tory Burch, Jason Wu and Marchesa—offer up. One of the bags might be a bit of a pricey investment, but it’s a steal- and a completely legal one- considering who they’re designed by. Plus, all proceeds will benefit the CFDA foundation.
