Runway Diaries: Post-Fashion Week Thoughts Part I

160 منذ أشهر

Wow, what a few weeks it has been! I feel like I’ve abandoned all of you as soon as fashion week ended, but the truth is I’ve abandoned everyone! I have been working non-stop since we had our show on September 12th (well, really a few weeks before that). There were press appointments the day after the show, followed by preparation for Capsule (a sales show) and then sales follow up. NYFW was extremely busy for me this year as I had an event for Fashion’s Night Out, designed a heat transfer illustration for a booth for Rowenta at the tents at Lincoln Center, plus some Project Runway events.

Fashion Week kicked off on September 9th with Fashion’s Night Out. It’s crazy; I feel like FNO is almost like a national holiday in NYC. The streets are all completely packed, everyone’s dressed up, and it is impossible to get a cab. It’s like Halloween, but better dressed! I started the night out with a much-needed hair appointment at Ryan Darius Salon. He does a great job at keeping my hair the shade of blond that I love while also keeping it low maintenance, which is a necessity for me and my schedule. He also did my hair color for my wedding and gave me some great extensions from Beauty Essence Inc.

Immediately following the hair appointment (and after a quick change in an Urban Outfitters dressing room), I ran over to STK for the New York Moves FNO party celebrating the October issue of their magazine. I designed a bag for the Keep A Child Alive charity that was auctioned off, and New York Moves featured a photo shoot of me with bag in the magazine. I thought the images turned out awesome, and I was so thankful to be asked to be a part of it. The party was  and the perfect way to celebrate FNO and show off the bag.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to stay at the party too long because I had to run back to the studio where we had two model fittings that night—one at 9 p.m. and another at 9:30 p.m. The models were so busy during fashion week that sometimes it’s the only time they’re available to come do a fitting…and people think models have it easy!! I ended up staying at the studio a few hours after the fittings but had a lot of events the next day so called it a night before midnight.
