Researching Right
Have you ever been assigned a crazy research project with a crazier time limit?
As someone who has just made their way through one, I want you to be more prepared than I was. I want you to produce work that is 10/10- meaning I would read it again!
1. When you find a site which has the information you need, do a little snooping to find out whether or not it is reliable. You're going to want to look at whether there is bias or prejudice; if it is fact checked; has an editor or is from a reliable source. Common sense goes a long way in research.
2. Found your information? Record it! Not only should you be recording the information you've found but make sure to (at least) write when the article was written/published and when you visited it. If you use Word then use the shortcut Shift + Alt + D to enter the date and Shift + Alt + T to enter the time.
3. Google is your best friend. Sometimes you can literally type a question and get your answer! If you aren't, then try to rephrase your question or only keep keywords. You can also use Google as a dictionary by typing define, followed by your unknown word.
4. Wikipedia is your frenemy. I would not trust what you read on Wikipedia, it is not the most reliable source but there is a trick... scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll find all the sources for the information! Go check them out and you may find a jackpot of information.
Good luck a-googling!
