At yesterday’s Rodarte show Kate and Laura Mulleavy revealed their Van Gogh-inspired spring collection. The inspiration was so obvious, and at times so literal, that it prompted one critic to worry about copyright issues. Suzy Menkes wasn’t a fan. She wrote, “Where did the Mulleavy sisters lose their touch at Rodarte? There were other outfits in vivid mixes of blue and green that had an allure — although not the dark undertone usually associated with the design duo, who said they were obsessed with the saturated, filmic colors of Disney’s 1959 Sleeping Beauty…but [they] did not push their concept forward enough to make it seem like more than just another floral frock,” but WWD loved it, “This collection bore evidence of a desire to be more commercial while protecting the artistry at the core of their work. If the designers felt the strain of compromise, it resulted in a beautiful thing.” The one thing no one’s debating? That Rodarte attracted the most star studded front row this week. Beyoncé (with Solange), Taylor Swift, Rooney Mara, Miranda July, and both Fannings brought A-list start power to the afternoon show. Elle and Dakota chose pretty different looks, so which one’s your favorite?

There are many unspoken rules of Fashion Week—who gets to sit where, who gets to go where, who gets to talk to whom—but few garner as much attention as who gets to wear what. With a gauntlet of street style photographers at the front of Lincoln Center and a cadre of paparazzi staked out in the back (never mind the rows and rows of eager editors with camera phones), it’s likely that if you are remotely recognizable, your picture will be taken and your outfit will be broadcast out and discussed as much as (if not more than) the actual clothing shown on the runway. This is especially the case for celebrities, and while there is no right way to dress for Fashion Week, you can usually break down their choices into three specific groups. Vera Wang’s spring ’12 show this morning is the perfect case study for this New York Fashion Week phenomenon: the Front Row Fashion Tribes.

- We spotted the lovely Renee Zellweger heading to the Carolina Herrera fashion show! Renee, who is set to play Bridget Jones in the THIRD movie (!!!) looked fantastic in a ruched Carolina Herrara dress with nude heels. We especially loved the pop of neon yellow and green from her purse. Renee is always so stylish, love it!

Three very different designers hosted three very different presentations this week: Thom Browne invited editors to the New York Public Library while Chris Benz held court at Lincoln Center and the Lake and the Stars fittingly showed their hip swim and lingerie collection downtown at Milk Studios. Through the New York Public Library’s marble hallways and staircases we went to catch Thom Browne’s twenties-themed action. After being corralled behind velvet ropes we watched girls pose as household items. One, for example, was inside a birdcage resembling a cockatoo in a sheer white feathered dress while two others stood at attention, playing curtains to an invisible window. Another emerged in Browne’s signature avant-preppy clothes, fixing herself a drink as friends began piling into the room accompanied by human bouquets and extra-long cigarette holders gossiping (we guess) about suspended kilts and diagonally draped fringe dresses.

- Fashion Week’s known for all the unique visions, refreshing color combinations, and sometimes shocking trends…and the same can easily be said about the hair and makeup. We’ll be honest though—there’s nothing like the quintessential element of your everyday all-natural look: the nude lip. It’s understated, it’s wearable, and it won’t distract from your killer outfit. Based on the spring 2012 runways, here are five perfect nude lip colors.

- There is nothing we love more than a man who rides a bike! We think it's so hot, especially when that man is Hugh Jackman! We spotted Wolverine (er, Hugh) riding an eco-friendly fold-up bike! We don't think anyone has ever looked better riding a bike!

So this happened this morning: Beyoncé popped up at J.Crew’s stellar spring presentation with her sister, Solange Knowles (and little babyoncé!). It was J.Crew’s first Lincoln Center fashion week presentation and we were SO excited about the hot pink on red, the orange lips, the sequined pants, the red, white and blue prints and the grosgrain ribbon sandals that we skipped on out of there to face the sunny morning mere minutes before Bey’s arrival. To say the smile on our face turned upside down when we emerged from the subway to a Beyoncé Twitter explosion would be an understatement. We’re too sad to write more…other than, how awesome is her sequined J.Crew collection dress?

- The most fashionable sisters in Hollywood are definitely Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen! With their chic bohemian approach and constant developing sense of style, these girls live and breathe fashion! For the past years they’ve embraced lots of layers and boho-chic, but we love them the most when they keep it simple. We think they look so great in a long white shirt worn with trendy leather pants, or a sophisticated shirt dress! Love it!
How To Get The Look:
- We just love how Ashley combines two of this year's biggest trends, the transparent shirt and leather! A white oversized shirt is a great investment, both comfortable and chic! You can find one at Topshop
- Leather pants gives this outfit the just right amount of attitude. We found this pair at H&M and can’t wait to start wearing them!
- As much as we love color, sometimes it’s okay to go all black and white. Ashley proves this with her outfit and instead of a pop of color she went for grey suede heels. We sort of love it and you can find an almost identical pair at Asos !
- As for Mary-Kate, we love how she created this young, fashionable, business woman look! With a LBDS (little black dress shirt) you can look super professional but still keep it fresh. We really like this dress from Mango but a shirt playsuit would have worked just as fine!
- A pair of black high heeled pumps is something every girl needs in her closet! We can’t think of any other shoe that can be worn with so many different outfits! MK's closet is probably full of them and you can get a pair at Asos !
This is a look that is both professional and fun! We love how it can easily go from day to night in the blink of an eye!

Season in and season out, Alice + Olivia designs party dresses that make even the most boring conversationalist look like she’s fun to be around. It explains why scenester girls regularly flock to the New York-based label’s presentations—and the spring ’12 collection was no exception. Kourtney Kardashian was given a tour of the ‘60s-inspired pieces by designer Stacey Bendet herself while DJ Mia Moretti and violinist Caitlin Moe rocked out. “So pretty!” Kardashian exclaimed to no one in particular as she walked past four models in frothy, floaty pieces in varying shades of cream. Soon after, the singer Jordin Sparks arrived, wandering around the AstroTurf-lined space while sipping on one of the frosty drinks being served up. There was one party girl who stayed away from the bar: Lydia Hearst. She said, “Honestly, I think more people need to hydrate and drink more water during Fashion Week. It’s the only way to survive.” So if champagne is out of the picture, what makes an ultimate party? “You want everyone to be fashionable, everybody to actually show up on time instead of being the quintessential New Yorker who’s fashionably late, and you want a fun, flirty outfit. That’s kind of how I feel about this,” said Hearst, pointing to her red sequined Alice + Olivia sheath.
