Styling Fenty

il y a 46 mois

In May 2019, Rihanna launched her fashion house FENTY under luxury fashion group LVMH (home to brands including Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Givenchy), making history as the first black woman as a CEO of an LVMH brand.

A little over a year later, I wanted to look back at her debut collection (which was featured in an Antidote release) and style some of the pieces. The collection saw oversized outerwear, Japanese denim, statement jewelry and sunglasses, and a color palette including rose pink, camel brown, and crisp white.

To start, I chose one of my favorite pieces from the collection – this white blazer dress with exaggerated shoulders and a corset-style waist. Rihanna also wore it to the launch event in Paris! Instead of styling it as a dress, I decided to pair it with some slouchy mom jeans and a white t-shirt. To accessorize, I continued with the white theme, choosing a pair of white frame sunglasses, hoops, some strappy heels, and a mini bag with black text. Next, chose this t-shirt with oversized sleeves, which I styled with a v-waist denim miniskirt. Sticking to a simple outfit, I added a black leather cap, some strappy thong heels, silver hoops and a black mini bag. You could switch the mini bag for the white fannypack from the collection.

For my next two outfits, I wanted to style some of the camel brown pieces. With this super oversized parka jacket, I styled it with a leather shirt and cycle shorts, matching the inside of the jacket nicely. I then added some heeled sandals, a mini handbag, and sunglasses. Next, I chose the cap and matching pants with statement pleats. Keeping them as the focus, I added classic pieces such as the black sleeveless turtleneck, oversized clutch and strappy heels. To complete the outfit, I added some gold hoops and layered necklaces.

For my next outfit, I chose the shirt dress, which is another one of my favorite pieces. I love how the oversized shirt has been updated with the puffy sleeves, slouchy shoulders and a defined waist, turning an otherwise simple classic into a statement piece. I styled it with some layered silver chain necklaces, matching silver sunglasses and some strappy mules, and then, a box bag with chain detail. You could also style the shirt with some slouchy jeans (tucked in or out!). Finally, I chose this white pantsuit. I decided to go for more of a glam look, with the black and white crystal turtleneck, rhinestone shades, ‘snake’ heels, and a black mini bag with silver detail.
