It's My Body: I Make the Choices

119 måneder siden

Hello dolls! Beatrix here.

It's time we stop letting others dictate our beauty standards, and our choices. It's my body, can't I make the choices?

So you want to wear full-face makeup to go grocery shopping? If you're cool with it, I'm cool with it!
No makeup to a fancy party? That's awesome!
Do you prefer wearing extensions in your hair? Work it, girl!
Or do you just want your natural look? Your style is amazing.

It's time we stop telling girls who wear makeup that they're "fake" and girls who don't that they're "unfeminine."

In the real world, I wear 'heavy' makeup just about everyday! Makeup boosts my confidence and putting it on is just so much fun in my opinion. No matter how much I like how I look, there's always a few people who call me names because of the way I choose to look. But you know what, they shouldn't care. It's my face - and I only have one. I get to make the choices.

Same goes for my piercings - I have them all up and down my ears and I wear a nose ring most of the time. When I first met my teachers, a lot of them questioned me.

"Why do you have those, if you don't mind me asking?" Um, because I like them...
"What do your parents think of those?" They're not judgemental! They're fine with it.
"Why would you do that so young?" I'm not that young, and I wanted them...?

Some of my teachers even assumed that I was a bad student because of the way that I looked, which is a whole other issue in it's own.

So - wear your makeup or go fresh faced, get that piercing, and wear your favorite clothes. You get one face, one body for the rest of your life. Make it your own.
