Primary Colors

One of my favorite color trend has got to be Primary colors. Together, when the colors are combined, they bring me childhood nostalgia. Sometimes I will also bring in other block colors such as orange and green (inspired by the first few looks of Moschino's Fall 2015 show), but today I have stuck to the primary three.

My inspiration has been drawn from lots of different places. The most prominent, is artwork. The classic choice is Mondrian, but I also love artists such as Matisse and Kazimir Malevich. The Bauhaus art movement in general is also a great source of inspiration, with simplistic block colors and geometric shapes. Another art movement that I cannot leave out is of course Pop Art! Warhol is the obvious, as well as Litchenstein. Even though these are all very contemporary artists, to bring it completely up-to-date and into fashion, Jeremy Scott's cartoon-esque work is perfect for this look - how can we forget the McDonald's inspired collection for Moschino?!

Finally moving onto my styling, where lastly, I have used inspiration from 90s hip-hop. TLC are perfect pin-ups for this look (the vid for ain't 2 proud 2 beg is a perfect example), especially with their color co-ordinated looks. Staple items to use are dungarees (the bigger the better), letterman jackets, bright shirts or sweatshirts around the waist, hoop earrings, sporty socks, and sneakers. The paint splat bag is perfect for this look! This look is totally about having fun, so don't be too serious!
