Exam Writing Tips

Hey Dollies,

I’ve graduated from high school quite sometime now and having to write exams is one part if school I wouldn’t miss - but over the years I’ve gathered a few tips and tricks for writing exams, some from advice of teachers and friends and others I came across.

English A.
When writing an essay, ensure that you answer these five questions - Who, What, When, Where.

Mathematics
When doing paper 2, (working sums) always show each step you took to getting your answer. A lot of your marks are for working whereas only one or two marks go to the correct answer. Showing each and every step to arriving to your answer will give you most of your marks.

GENERAL

Multiple Choice Questions.
Double checking your answers is always good to do, but sometimes doing a double check can cause you to second guess answers you were confident in before. Instead when double checking check on the answers you aren’t too sure on - make little markings on those questions and recheck those first and if you have time left check on the answers you are confident in.

Writing Explanations.
If you ever feel like your explanation are lacking in context and doesn’t accurately portray what you are trying to say - include an example with your explanation.
