Wish I'd Known This When I Was in High School

High school. It's everything and nothing all at the same time. These four years of your life can be amazing, but they do not necessarily define who you are/can be. In honor of this I wanted to share with you a short list of things that I wish I had known when I was in high school. So, here it is.

1. Mom's always right. I had silly arguments with my mother in high school when it came to who to hang out with/ what to wear. I learned that if Mom says it's too cold/too hot for a certain outfit, she knows what she's talking about. If mom gets a bad vibe and asks you to stay clear from one of your friends, listen. Remember: she's been through high school too.  So, take it easy on your parents. They only want whats best for you.

2. Do not worry too much about what people think. This is easier said than done, but it is very true. Get yourself out there and involved in school activities. Give that speech in front of the whole class. Go out for the soccer/footbll/dance team, etc. Audition for the school musical. You won't regret it!

3. You don't need to be popular. Popularity may feel like everything at this time in life, but it is not. Many of your friendships will end at graduation. All you really need is one or two best friends to get you through those four years.  Be friendly and have many friends, but do not believe everyone's your best friend.

4. Broken hearts heal. High school can be full of heartbreak. Again, not the end of the world even though it feels like that. It gets better with time. You will move on, and you will be just fine.

5. On a lighter note, do not go out to dinner with a group unless you are willing to pay more than your fair share. Someone will always forget their debit card/wallet in the car or at home. Be prepared to spot someone :)
