Cyberbullying

há 93 meses

I was recently asked to cover the topic of cyberbullying by a doll named springgirl899, and I was happy to oblige! Before beginning, I would like to thank her for researching the topic and proving me with relevant statistics, in addition to creating a club, "Meanings" in which members can discuss their experiences with bullying and offer each other support.

Why?
What would cause a person to bully another person? Many people think that bullies are just naturally mean, but this is usually untrue. Most of the time, a bully may be experiencing bullying themselves, or may have other difficult issues in their life. This does not mean bullying is okay in any way - but it does mean that bullies often need help too.

What is cyberbullying?
Cyberbullying refers to the use of electronic communication to bully another person. This phenomenon disproportionately affects some groups of students more than others - for example, while 16% of the general high school population in the US has experienced cyberbullying, over half of all LGBT+ US high school students have experienced it! No one should have to put up with this - which means we all need to be watching out for it on Stardoll and other places online.

What can we do?
Here are some ways we can help stop cyberbullying:
- If you are being cyberbullied, block the bully and report the messages. Don't reply to them or forward them to your friends! Keep screenshots for evidence to show your parents and web services.
- Help spread positivity online, instead of hate.
- Help others understand what to do when they experience cyberbullying!

How have you helped fight cyberbullying?
